Lymphedema Rehabilitation

What is Lymphedema? Lymphedema is a condition of localized fluid retention and tissue swelling caused by a compromised lymphatic system. It is most frequently seen after lymph node dissection, surgery and/or radiation therapy. It is a progressive condition characterized by:

  • Excessive protein in the tissues
  • Excessive fluid in the tissues
  • Chronic inflammatory reactions
  • Excessive deposition of fibrous tissues

Treatments Include:

  • Manual Lymph Drainage
  • Compression bandaging
  • Compression Garments
  • Exercise and elevation
  • Education in self-management

If left untreated the condition of protein-rich fluid provides a culture rich for infection and inflammatory process. Reduced oxygen transport then decreases healing to compromised tissues and wounds.

from our Patients

"Janessa was a real pleasure to have come to our house and work with my husband. He really connected with her and worked hard for her. He most appreciated her encouragement and positive attitude."

"I appreciated that they honored my request to call me 10 minutes before arriving so that I could feel mentally "ready for the appointment. For the first time in 16 years, I am regaining the use of my trunk muscles, thanks to Kaitlyn. Your services were sensitive to my needs and requests. "

"My therapists were helpful, kind and enthusiastic. I could not have asked for any better. They encouraged me when I was critical of my progress. This was uplifting and gave me a desire to not give up on myself. The therapists were always positive!"
